After growing up in Rochester Minnesota, I moved to Scottsdale Arizona in 1993 and obtained both my bachelors and master’s degree in Social Work. My initial interest in medical social work as discovered while working for those coping with ALS and terminal illness. It was during this time, I found my passion in assisting people and families as they coped with the roller coaster ride of medical illness.
I furthered my skill development and obtained my clinical license during my time as an oncology social worker from 2005 until 2014. During my time as an oncology social worker at Scottsdale Healthcare, I had the gift of witnessing the human spirit in the face of adversity by helping individuals, couples and families cope with the chronic nature of cancer survivorship. I provided counseling, psychotherapy and psychoeducation groups addressing stress management, coping with anxiety, fear, depression, and adjustment to chronic illness.
In June of 2014, I answered the next call in my life by starting my private practice and have been working with clients since. I offer a compassionate and nurturing environment for healing and self-discovery and many clients report an improvement in general coping within three to six sessions. I offer an eclectic approach in therapy utilizing a number of theories and therapy approaches to maximize my client’s success in goal attainment, reduction in distress, and developing additional coping tools helping my clients to move forward. My services are available to adults and couples.
I accept a number of insurance plans and offer very affordable private pay rates. I also offer in-home counseling for those who are homebound.
